Burt's Trip up the Alaska Highway July 2003

This is the approximate route we took to Alaska, coming back we went through the lower 48.

My daughter, April and I left Cape Cod on the morning of July 9th and entered Quebec after noon. Unfortunately I passed up buying gas and had to pay 70 cents a liter in Canada, about $2.80 a gallon but due to the exchange rate it was "only"  $2 a gallon. The roads were fair but the villages leading to Montreal were quaint

We first went to "Old Montreal", it was like a European city but the prices were high. The only problem in Quebec was ALL signs were in French. The lettering was yellow (like the French) (just kidding).

April in one of the beautiful gardens in Old Montreal, it is too bad that we stayed there a little too long because when it got dark (one of the last times for weeks we would see dark) there was a fireworks display. This caused all the bridges to be closed and it took nearly 90 minutes to find a tunnel to get back to our hotel.

April chose the Montreal Biodrome to visit where there are several environments ranging from Arctic to Amazon. It was a great experience.

This is right near the Biodrome (where I met the parking lot lady), this tower was part of the Olympic Park in the early 70s, it is also right were the Montreal Expos play.
